Medieval Week at Rowdy Ridge Gang Camp Once upon a time, two long years ago, there was a family who spent many happy time at the beach or camping together. Then, as quick as a thief in the night, they were torn apart by domestic abuse and furthermore the court system. Patricia put a restraining order against her husband; but in an unkind twist of fate, a ruling left her at home without her three children. This was the most unbearable year of her life. Locked up in her own castle, she worked hard to prove she could take back her children from foster homes. She came to their rescue when the ruling was lifted. Patricia’s three children returned to her and their new baby brother, a smiling little prince, whom they all adored. With this new life hope returned. After seven months of being reunited, she decided to bring all her children to the Rowdy Ridge Gang Camp for their first family outing after being separated. The forecast at camp was for blue sky and sunshine to help drive away those dark, cloudy days. Patricia’s face beams when she watches her children frolic, swim, and play under her watchful care and also the care of the Rowdy Ridge counselors. During the week they created a family coat of arms to represent their family strengths. Their shield included love and their God who sees them through it all. The fun they had together at camp will serve as a milestone for their family’s journey back on the road to family recovery. Patricia would do anything for her kids. She’s
left her job to help them pull up their grades in school. She’s
fighting for their future freedom as adults. The Rowdy Ridge staff was
honored to be able to encourage and lift these dear people up. Together,
they joined forces to eradicate despair. Working together is the way
they choose to live happily ever after.
